SSTCI’s Around the World Holiday Bazaar 2017

The Around the World Holiday Bazaar is on December 5th 5pm-10pm in the Great Hall of the Silver Spring Civic Building. Enjoy an array of arts and crafts from around the globe. Save the international flavors of an array of entertainment, cuisine and cocktails.

Maryland Youth Ballet’s “Mini-Nut”

The Mini-Nut is a delightful abbreviated version of our classic, award-winning, The Nutcracker, designed to introduce children to the magic of this family favorite. This beloved holiday tradition, with soaring music by Tchaikovsky, promises to hold the attention of even the youngest theatergoer. Suitable for all ages, this version is less than an hour and performed by cast members from MYB’s full-length production. A perfect holiday mini-treat!

Fenton Street Market: Holidaze

The 40th Annual Festival of Lights

When: 11/30 – 12/31
Where: Washington DC Temple

Time: Dusk to 10pm

The Festival of Lights is one of the D.C. area’s great community traditions. Beginning November 30th, the Festival features free performances nightly in the comfortable, state-of-the-art theater located in the Visitors’ Center.

A different performing artist or group is showcased each night, including bell ensembles, choirs, orchestras, and more! Each performance is presented twice nightly.

Silver Spring Christmas Market & Holiday Craft Show

Brookside Gardens: Garden of Lights

Step into a magical winter wonderland illuminated with more than one million dazzling colorful lights shaped into hand-crafted, original art forms of flowers, animals and other natural elements. Stroll from garden to garden enjoying twinkling tree forms, sparkling fountains, and whimsical winter scenes. The Garden of Lights celebrates its 19th season as a Baltimore/Washington, DC area family holiday tradition.

The night wouldn’t be complete without a visit inside the Conservatory to enjoy watching G-Scale model trains wind through a seasonal landscape. Afterward, warm up inside the Visitors Center while you sip hot cocoa and listen to one of the nightly musical performances.

Ornament Making

Join the Half Pint Kids Club on the 5th floor to create your very own ornament! Use our button maker to make a one of a kind ornament to hang in your home or give as a gift. Don’t miss the fun! Feel free to bring a 2″ (inch) round picture or photograph to turn into an ornament.
Children under 8 must be accompanied by a responsible adult. Free event. No registration necessary.

Winterfest 2017

When: December 16th

Please join Difference Makers at the Winterfest Event for Fun Holiday Shopping with 50 Local artisans and vendors, visit with Santa, free hot chocolate, music by Mix107.3, performances, community crafting for charity, free facepainting, food and more!

Difference Makers will be collecting non-perishable food for their pantry as well as toys for their Kokua Foods Families.
