Bethesda is a located just outside Washington, D.C. This suburb offers a vibrant urban district surrounded by well-established neighborhoods. Bethesda has a range of single-family homes ranging from classic-style colonials and cape cods to renovated homes and luxury new construction; Bethesda also offers many apartment units along condos and townhomes ranging from modest to upscale. Downtown Bethesda is only nine miles from the U.S. Capitol and most Bethesda addresses are within 15 miles of downtown D.C.

Bethesda’s urban district has ample municipal parking and provides free bus service on the Bethesda Circulator; Capital Bikeshare stands are also available. Throughout greater Bethesda there is access to Metrobus and Ride On bus; Metrorail Red Line stops are located at downtown Bethesda, Medical Center and White Flint (North Bethesda). Bethesda offers quick and easy access to the Beltway, I-270, Wisconsin Ave/Rockville Pike, and several other major arteries. All three airports, BWI, Regan National, and Dulles, are within reach.

Downtown Bethesda is a designated Arts & Entertainment District. It’s well known regionally for it’s excellent dining options; there are nearly 200 restaurants in the urban district. Top-ranked spots include Jaleo, Black’s Bar & Kitchen, Mussel Bar, Passion Fish, Woodmont Grill, Raku, Gringos & Mariachis, and True Food Kitchen. Bethesda hosts many popular events including The Taste of Bethesda, Bethesda Art Walk, Summer Concert Series and Outdoor Movies; it’s also home to several farmer’s markets including the Farm Women’s Cooperative Market. For live entertainment, Bethesda is home to Imagination Stage, Bethesda Blues & Jazz Supper Club, and Round House Theater. There are also 20 art galleries and over 700 small boutiques and larger shops including Pottery Barn, Anthropologie, Lululemon, The North Face, and Apple. Bethesda also offers a mall, Westfield Montgomery, anchored by Nordstrom and Macy’s.

Bethesda offers residents terrific options to enjoy the outdoors; parks and trails are plentiful. Cabin John Regional Park, Locust Grove Nature Center, The Capital Crescent Trail, and numerous local neighborhood and urban parks provide picnic area, playgrounds, ball fields, basketball and tennis courts.

Several organizations are headquartered in Bethesda including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Marriott International, Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Suburban Hospital/Johns Hopkins Medicine, and Lockheed Martin.

The Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) is located here for those studying to serve in U.S Armed Forces Medical Corps and Public Health Service. Bethesda boasts three library branches: Bethesda, Davis and Little Falls. Bethesda is served by the Montgomery County Public Schools.
